Most recent Pedal Board 2017 I had to take time off acquiring pedals and these are what I have so far. I'll upload a better picture later. 2012 Don't want to pay for a crazy over-priced guitar pedal board? Neither did I. I did some research and found a super cheap way to make your own cheap pedal board for under $15 bucks. Most pedal boards are WAY more expensive than this. You'll probably only have to buy one item too. Let me explain. I have been playing guitar for years but have never really put a ton of money into it. I have a few effects for in my arsenal but not an exorbitant amount. I needed a pedal board that could hold 4-5 pedals. I saw only one video on Youtube that had a guy with this idea. Here is what you'll need: a used chopping board from your kitchen, a 3x 1 piece of wood, three screws, industrial strength Velcro, some spray paint, a power strip, and your pedals. First off, drill three small holes into ones side of the chopping board. two by the edges and one in the middle. This will be for the wood screws. Now screw the 3x1 piece of pine board to the chopping board. it will now be on an angle. It's a good idea to place a few of your pedals on the board to get an idea of where they will be. Next you will need to drill a couple of holes for the AC adapter cords. I drilled a couple of holes about halfway from the bottom to the top. about the size of a nickel. Next, it's time to paint. Take your spray paint and paint the board the color you want. Let it dry. Now, cut the velcro into strips that fit a long the length of the chopping board. I used three strips. Now take the other part of the velcro and cut it to fit the bottom of your effect pedal. I used the loop side on the board and the hook side on the bottom of the pedals. Place the three strips of velcro on the board evenly spaced. It should already have a sticky side underneath so no glue is required. Now, on the piece of board that is holding it up, which is the vertical piece of board, place another piece of velcro on it and the other partner piece on the power strip. Depending on the size of your wooden piece you may be able to place the power strip underneath to conceal it. I didn't have enough room so I had to place my power strip on the outside. It's not as nice looking but is still functional. Once you've done that, you're all set. You've just made a really inexpensive pedal board! I only have two pedals, soon hopefully to add more, so I have room for at least two or three more pedals depending on what brand and type of pedal. I plan on getting a delay pedal and a wah wah pedal next. This should fill up my board. Then add a tuner an tremolo but will probably need a bigger board for that. Though you can always swap out the pedals you don't use often. If you want a case to put the whole board in to make it more transportable, Walmart has really cheap book bags. similar to a briefcase style. This will keep everything ( cables, patch chords, picks, capo, etc.) together. Enjoy your new pedal board! Recently I bought an iPad and have been wanting a case for it. In my research I came across this awesome case that also includes a keyboard. I thought this would be awesome because typing with the touchscreen is not the most efficient method of typing. It also included a sturdy case as well. This keyboard connects via bluetooth and can be removed from the carbon fiber (looking) hard plastic case. the keyboard also features shortcut keys such as volume, home, and screen lock that are synced to the iPad. The key size and spacing is another good feature I liked about this product. I leaves room for your fingers and the response of the keys feel like an actual laptop. The keyboard is very light weight and sports a sleek design. The keyboard can also be turned off and on so if you just want to use the touchscreen you can without pressing buttons and changing things on the screen. The battery life is amazing as well. With one charge it can last up to almost two weeks without another charge. It takes a mini USB. The case is very durable and looks like it is made from carbon fiber. Although I think it is polyurethane or some sort of hard plastic. the iPad snaps in firmly and closes with a plastic clip. It also has openings for all the external ports which is great. the iPad can be taken out and set vertically to give a portrait viewing angle. The default is a landscape viewing angle. The case can also be folded back on itself if you just want to use it only as an iPad. I got it off Amazon for $75 bucks. At Bestbuy it's 99 bucks. Overall, very happy with this purchase. I give it a 5/5 rating! I just started this blog. Lately I have been practicing my typing skills and I thought this would be a great place to share my thoughts as well as work on my typing.
So, I'm getting excited. I have only three weeks to go before I start the DPT program at LLU. First up, I'll be in the cadaver lab pretty much all day for gross anatomy. On Fridays I have tests. This lasts for seven weeks then I start the remainder of the summer quarter which is manual muscle testing, kinesiology, and christian perspectives on death and dying. I already know who is going to be some of my teachers. I'll have Dr. Forrester for anatomy, B. Bradley kinesiology and MMT, D. L. Aveling for Christian Perspectives on death and dying, plus few others I don't know for sure. I am nervous because each student has to get an 85% in gross anatomy to continue in the program. It was a long and pretty difficult process to get into PT school. With the economy how it is right now and with more people going going back to school, made acceptance much more competitive. I was one who went back to school after only a couple of years of teaching. I had to take 12 prereqs before I could even think about getting in. I heard that this year, the DPT program had over 800 applicants and only had 72 spots for students. I knew this early so I told myself straight away that I would need to get straight A's in all my prereqs. Which I did. But It was hard getting the classes. Community colleges are packed right now and have no money. They are having to cut classes and this summer I heard Crafton Hills ins't even having a summer session. Nevertheless, I was accepted and start in 3 weeks. so i begin a new chapter in my life, And like anyone starting a new chapter. I am excited! |
